Our Queens

Queens is a patchwork of many unique neighborhoods, each with its own distinct identity. Astoria, in the northwest, for example, is home to the largest Greek population outside of Greece, while the central Queens areas of Forest Hills and Kew Gardens have traditionally large Jewish populations. Jamaica is a major business and transportation hub for the borough, and home to large African-American and Caribbean populations.

Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona are an enormous conglomeration of Caribbean, South American and South East Asian communities. Flushing, in the north-central part of the borough, is a major commercial hub for Chinese and Korean businesses, and has become home to the largest Chinese population outside the pacific rim.

These neighborhoods, together with numerous others in south and eastern Queens, comprise the most diverse county in the United States, and provide the richest cultural experience to be found in any one place on the planet.

Explore the galleries below to sample the richness of Queens... as it once was... and as it is today.
